Privacy Policy

This policy explains what PurePaw collects, what it deliberately does not, and where each piece of information goes. It matches the app as of this date — not a generic template.

1. What stays on your device, always

• Pet profiles — name, species, breed, age, weight, allergies, photo
• Your pet’s microchip number
• Your veterinary practice’s name, phone number and address
• The records vault — vaccination records, health certificates, imported pages and expiry dates
• Your scan history and favourites

None of this is transmitted to PurePaw. None of it is backed up by us. It is not synced between devices. If you delete the app it is gone, so keep your own copies of anything important.

2. What leaves your device, and when

• Barcode numbers. We may look a scan up against our product database and public catalogues (Open Pet Food Facts, Open Food Facts, UPCitemdb). A barcode identifies a product, not you.
• Label photographs. If you use label scan, that single photo is sent to Google’s Gemini service to read the ingredient text, and is not retained by us afterwards. Photograph the ingredient panel, not anything personal.
• Account details. Only if you choose to sign in: email, display name and sign-in provider (Apple or Google). You can use the whole app as a guest.
• Product photos you contribute. Only when you explicitly choose to contribute one. These are stored publicly and shown to other users.
• Product reports. Barcode and product name — no account or device identifier.
• Products we could not answer. Brand, product name and barcode so we know what to add. Nothing about you is attached — no account, no device, no location.

3. Notifications

Expiry reminders and recall alerts are scheduled on your device by the app itself. We do not use push notifications, we hold no push token, and no server is told which documents you hold or when they expire.

4. Location

PurePaw does not request or collect your location. Tapping your vet’s address hands that address to your chosen maps app, which then applies its own privacy policy.

5. Camera and photos

The camera is used to scan barcodes and labels and to photograph records. Photo-library access is used only for images you pick yourself. PurePaw does not browse, scan or upload your photo library.

6. Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple, Google Play and RevenueCat. They receive purchase and subscription status tied to an anonymous identifier. We never see your payment details.

7. What we never do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you across apps or websites. We do not put personal data in URLs.

8. Children

PurePaw is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Your choices and rights

Delete individual scans, documents, pets and vet details in the app at any time — that removes them from the device immediately. If you have an account, you can delete it (and any photos you contributed) from Profile. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data; write to blueorbitsupport@gmail.com and we will act on it.

10. Source links

Ingredient flags cite public sources such as the ASPCA, the FDA and the Pet Poison Helpline. Nothing is requested from those sites unless you tap a link.

11. Changes

If we begin collecting anything not listed here, we will update this policy and the date on it before that change ships.
